What a Day!!! We started out about 10 o'clock last Saturday morning on the grounds of En Fuego in Verbena, Alabama. The whole day was filled with tons of fun, great music, and worship. From all over the south kids, teenagers, and adults came to enjoy this free concert. We have had the honor of getting to be the photographers for this HUGE event for several years now and we think it just gets better ever year! What a blessing to get to work with so many people that have a heart for winning people to Jesus. We were blessed and can't wait for next year! Albums, albums, and more albums! These are just a few of the reasons that it seems of late that I have fallen off the face of the earth. I have now come up for air after working on some absolutely gorgeous albums for our brides & grooms. I have a few more up my sleeve, that I'm gonna hang on to for a while longer, but they'll be out soon so come back and look for them! These albums are printed in a 12 x 12 book with the pages spreading to 24 inches across, wow, talk about huge! What a perfect day for a wedding! I love October weddings! The weather was beautiful, not too hot , not too cold, and perfectly sunny. And of course, Samantha made a stunning bride! Diversity Summit 2010

The Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce’s second Diversity Summit featured national experts, including The Home Depot’s Chief Diversity Officer Gloria Johnson Goins. The summit was held at the Renaissance Montgomery Hotel & Spa at the Convention Center.

“This event is one of the most important programs that the Chamber has ever initiated,” said Randy George, president of the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce. “It brings to the forefront the necessity for understanding how to advance as an individual, as a business and as a society within the cultural and ethnic challenges and opportunities of the day.”

Panelist provided tools for participants to incorporate in their workplaces. There was also a session on Equal Employment Opportunity Commission compliance requirements.

“Aside from the legal pitfalls and simply creating a society that respects and has tolerance for diversity, there are also economic opportunities that diversity presents for virtually all businesses,” George said.

“To take advantage of these opportunities, one has to first recognize the characteristics of multiculturalism and then structure products, services and communications toward those niche markets. We hope that the development of this Diversity Summit series will help move Montgomery and the River Region down that continuum.”

En Fuego 2010

As Always, En Fuego 2010, brought out people from all over the state of Alabama and beyond! The whole day was filled with kids and adults having the time of their lives! Check out the official website for En Fuego HERE.
Meaning "On Fire" in Spanish, En Fuego is a one-day festival where students from every denomination and background come together for the purpose of worship and seeing Jesus Christ change lives. Each consecutive year the praise and worship has been spectacular and a clear Gospel message has been presented. An outdoor event, the festival has a very intense, yet intimate, camp-like feel and some have referred to it as, "The Christian Woodstock of Your Generation."Located in central Alabama, En Fuego began with a group of some 300 students the first year. The Lord has grown this festival in ministry, excellence and numbers. En Fuego has become a regional event that touches youth from around the Southeast. This event brings some of the hottest bands in Christian music for worship and offers messages from the best student communicators in the country. This event has seen hundreds of students come to know Christ, make commitments of renewal and be called into full-time ministry. Now, more than 20,000 people cover the open hillside each year to exalt the name of Jesus Christ!

We had an absolutely gorgeous day to photograph Derrick & Shante's Wedding. On the balcony of the Capital City Club all their friends and family gathered to witness the vows that were taken. The ceremony was so beautiful, and Shante' was a glowing bride. About fifteen minutes after the service was complete, the rain came, we were all so glad it waited! We were glad to get to see Aaron's family again after meeting them several years ago for their family portraits. What a great surprise it was when Beth called and told us that her son was getting married. Aaron chose a gorgeous bride too! Once we met Chrissy, we fell in love with her too. They were both so fun and carefree, the beach wedding was a perfect setting for these two to take their vows. Last week Heath drove down to Panama City Beach a couple of days before the "Big" day, and took some beautiful bridal portraits of Chrissy at Eden Gardens in the morning hours, and the same afternoon, he meet up with Chrissy & Aaron at St. Andrews to shoot the engagement pictures. Patrick & Lily's Wedding Day!

Patrick & Heath go way back, they have been friends since their days at Canaanland. So, when Patrick called and said he was getting married, Heath was so excited! Patrick and Lily were married in beautiful Virginia. It was a such a breath-taking view where the ceremony took place. Everything was perfect, then after the vows had been spoken, and communion was taken, everyone enjoyed the casual reception with tons of good home cooking! Yay! We are so excited to put this slideshow up. We have been smack dab in the middle of wedding season and busy as little bees! I'm sure that Brandon & Bethany have been enjoying the good life as newlyweds. Their wedding took place at the Arrowhead Country Club, and it was a beautiful day, but extremely hot. While Bethany and the girls got ready, the guys had their fun at the lake house playing on the water. The ceremony went off without a hitch, it was afterwords things went downhill! It was so hot that right after group pictures, Brandon, the new groom, passed out from heat exhaustion! After some R & R for Brandon, things got right back into action, the party didn't miss a beat! We had a great time, and I know that all the friends and family did as well. Congratulations to the new Mr. & Mrs.!

You ever felt like just crying? I had my wife bring me a roll of toilet paper because I was a wreck after hearing about a friend who died after a long battle with sickness and another who hangs on the edge. I don't get on facebook much but boy, sometimes it makes you realize just how blessed you are to have a healthy family and friends who will stand by you and be there when you need them. For all my true friends... thanks for being a part of my life.

Hey Everybody,
Just wanted to give you a heads up to let you know that the New Years pictures are on the way! We are in the process of editing all of the images (almost 1500) shot for the party. We always try to make the most flattering and good looking pictures of our clients... that said some of the images we can't post just because we love people and would never want to post anything that would make them feel embarrassed. If you took a picture with us that was extremely over the top and you might regret now... not to worry. It probably won't make it to the slideshow. We will post the crazy and fun poses and dancing. There are only a few that won't make it. If you remember that there was a shot you might still want (that you did not see in the slideshow or on the ordering website) for a personal memory just mention it in an email and we will try to find it for you. Marge is in Heaven

Well, it is finished. Marge, my adopted Grandma is in Heaven. As I sit here and talk to you and Mooshoo (Marge's siamese cat) I am torn. There are so many good memories, then the regret and weeping comes, then laughter again when something cute she would say or do comes to mind. Words can't describe how wonderful it was to have her in my life. She will be greatly missed. We had so much fun together down through the years. Trips to Florida- when she was in her 70's she went with me to Disney world and rode all the crazy rides, I can still hear here hollering on Space Mountain...LOL. She climbed the "Honey I shrunk the kids" playground tower with me and slid down the slide. It took so long for her to get to the top of the spiral netting that the 6 & 7 year old kids got impatient and ran around her after asking her to move.

You know, she bought me a crotch rocket (superbike/motorcycle) when I was 17, my first bike. She taught me how to treat a lady. She got mad at me one time when I treated a girl friend wrong...so she went out and bought me books on how to treat a lady. She knew I liked to read. My precious wife told her a couple of times "thank you" for those books. Marge loved it when I brushed her hair. "You could do that forever" she would say. She had the cutest snaggle tooth smile. Her smile got that way because Thad, one of the many dogs she had adopted from me and my parents, jumped up to kiss her and his teeth knocked a chunk out of her teeth. When she smiled and laughed it warmed my heart. I used to tickle her just to hear her laugh. I would make her hold onto the headrest of her chair while I slowly crept towards her while wiggling my fingers. I never even had to touch her. As soon as she saw those wiggling fingers she would go to squirming in her chair and deep down belly laughing so hard that her eyes would water. We played that game for years. I miss her so badly.

In the last couple of months, as she declined, the fun stopped and the pain started. She became bedridden about April- that is when she moved in with us. Eventually she developed a nasty bedsore in the middle of her back that made her life miserable. She was in so much pain. I am glad she is free of that pain. It hurt me so to see her suffer so greatly. She would apologize when she had an accident and had to be cleaned up. She was so sweet.

I can't stop weeping. Laugh, cry, laugh, cry, this sucks so bad. I think I understand a little more now about mood swings... you poor women (monthly periods, etc). I will write more later... I'm running out of tissue.

Today has been kind of rough. My sweet adopted grandma (Marge) is getting ready to go to heaven. I know she will be in a wonderful place, free of the pain she has been suffering. It is hard on me to see this sweet little lady finishing her life. I thank God that I have such a sweet wife that would allow me to bring Marge (Grandma) into our home to end her life surrounded by love. My wife helped feed, bathe, change diapers, and care for Marge. I have some very sweet memories of time spent with Marge here in our home- it wouldn't have happened without the trophy wife I have helping. She deserves an award. The picture is of Marges 91st birthday which took place on the the 16 of October.

It is getting late. I am torn on whether to go on to bed or stay by her bedside. Her labored breathing and gentle cries cause me to administer another dose of morphine. It seems to be the only thing that brings her peace. Stroking her hair used to work but today I seem to have lost my magic touch. I continue stroking her hair anyway. It makes me feel better. This world is losing a wonderful woman. Oh, the stories I could tell you... ones of joy, and comedy, adventure and love. She had such a passion for her pets. She always had cats and dogs. They were the only other kids she had besides me.

Marjorie deRussy believed in me. She always did. She never gave up on me. She stuck by me through thick and thin. For, to her, I hung the moon. I would not be where I am today had it not been for her. She helped me get the equipment to do a photography business. She loved me so much, and I always loved her more (a game we played). It is hard to write through the weeping and laughing and then weeping. There are so many stories that come to mind... things that would having you cracking up. She was so spunky. Maybe I will start another blog to talk about these more personal things, or maybe I will just do it here. It is helping me tonight to write a little about this.

I imagine this is probably not what should be on the photography blog. If you have ever gone back to the very first entry, you will see it started out as an online journal back when I was working on a dive boat.

Thanks for lending an ear. Keep me in your prayers. This is a big loss to my life.

The Wedding From Hell!

What a performance! Heath and I treated ourselves to a date night not long ago, and we had a perfectly wonderful time. You all know that Heath and I are Wedding Photographers, so when he heard about a play entitled "The Wedding From Hell" put on by The Wetumpka Depot Players, he just had to go. Heath's friend, Patrick Hale, invited us out to the play, he was hilarious, playing the part of the Elvis impersonator. And boy, are we so glad we went! By the end of the night, our sides hurt from laughing so much. The theatre was full, but I guarantee, no one enjoyed it as much as we did. So many of the scenes were straight out of weddings that we've had the opportunity of photographing. From the pink camouflage bridesmaid dresses ,to the toupee on the wedding coordinator, we thought, how funny, these meant to be "over the top" scenes were not too far from what we have experienced at some of the weddings we've been to. There's never a dull moment in Wedding Photography!
